Pick Up FREE Seeds and Purchase Garden Containers, Worm Castings, and Shade Cloth
April 30 @ 7:00 am - 10:00 am
An event every week that begins at 7:00 am on Wednesday and Saturday, repeating until August 3, 2025

This March through July, stop by to pick up FREE seeds and purchase our 30-gallon garden container kits, worm castings, and shade cloth on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7am to 10am at our Nuestra Tierra Learning Garden, located past the playground on the west side of the Community Food Bank’s building at 3003 S Country Club Rd.
FREE SEEDS: As available. Did you know last year we distributed 58,660 seed packets?
30-GALLON GARDEN CONTAINER KITS: (Sliding scale $30-$50), self-watering, and a great way to grow food without a yard.
WORM CASTINGS: 1 gallon for $5
SHADE CLOTH: 6 ft x 20 ft (sliding scale $25-$45).
In Southern Arizona, shade cloth is typically used from April through October to protect plants from intense sun and heat. The exact timing varies each year, but here are some general guidelines:
- Spring & Summer: Shade cloth helps reduce water loss and prevents sunscald on plants.
- Monsoon Season: Secure shade cloth well to withstand strong winds.
- Fall: As temperatures cool, shade cloth can be removed or adjusted based on plant needs.
Plant purchasing should be available again soon (once our new greenhouse is completed and stocked).
