About Farm to Institution

Keeping It Local

Our Farm to Institution Program aims to fill the market gap between farmers and institutional purchasers, providing economic security for local growers, increasing the region’s healthy food supply, and keeping resources within the local community. The Community Food Bank acts as a coordinator of local food partners, such as local growers, urban farmers, schools, hospitals, distributors, and media partners. With our commitment to both healthy food and community development, we do our part to support local growers and bring fresh, local food to community institutions. Last year, 18 local farms sold over 12,500 pounds of produce to large markets, including Tucson Unified School District, Tucson Medical Center, and Sky Islands High School.
